Amazon Must-Haves for Spring: Round-Up of Recommendations
(This post contains affiliate links – click Here to understand what that means.)
It’s early March, and I can’t think of wearing my winter boots again this season, and “husband” has ditched his long-underwear. I wanted to do a fun post about Amazon Must-Haves for Spring and the things I’m buying or…want to buy. Why wait? I admit it’s a gutsy thing to do, but I’ve officially declared winter over! Never mind that snow-storm we’re expecting tomorrow. HAPPY DANCE!
Here’s a Round-Up of Amazon Must-Haves for Spring
A First-Rate, Packable Sunhat is an absolute must – Sunday Afternoons carries great options including children’s hats. This is serious sun-protection “for outdoor lovers and travelers.”
Safe Sunscreen – Badger – I trust this one. It’s consistently rated as one of the safer ones, and that’s a concern when it comes to sunscreen. It’s zinc-based so start out with just a bit and see how much you need, so it rubs in completely. Otherwise, it will leave a white film, which you can rub in with a towel. Totally worth it for this serious sun-protection.
Organic Vitamin C Serum from TruSkin – I’ve written an entire post about this darling of my skincare routine. It’s organic, professional grade with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. Serums like this usually sell for upwards of $100. This is the find-of-finds at $20/oz.
Favorite Footless Tights from Commando – Ok, I wear these all year round. They feel so amazing that I actually look forward to putting them on. They’re soft and very slimming across your abdomen. They’re not control-top but rather, smoothing with a dig-free waistband.
These are not $12 tights that pinch, grab and die after two years. Or, the ones you can never figure out which is the back and which is the front without sticking your hand down to the foot and trying to decide which looks the most like it was on the bottom of your foot the last time you wore them. Whew.
I’ve had four pairs for three years. After wearing them for nine months out of the year, and washing them in the washing machine in a lingerie bag, they look almost new; no holes runs or thin spots. Worth the price because, besides being beyond comfortable, they last so well. I can’t think of buying a lesser brand now that I’ve worn these. FYI, even though these are opaque, they’re definitely tights and not leggings.
Spring Showers Windproof Umbrella – Hello windproof! Do they really sell non-windproof umbrellas? And do I really buy them every year? Yes. Have you ever bought an umbrella with a lifetime warranty? You will have with this one!
Super Reading Specs – I’ve had these for three years, and they feel like a part of me now. They live on top of my head. A great look with the top half of the frame solid black and the bottom half brown tortoise. And, they’ve got spring hinges. I wanted something pretty, and just a bit different and these are it. In fact, I’m wearing them right now.
Little Tikes Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer – And one for the kids. You’ll be the toast of the toddler set in your neighborhood with this one. These are surprisingly affordable. Far less than a single party rental. This one is “Amazon’s Choice.”
SPRING READING RECOMMENDATIONS: something for everyone
Nancy Mitford: The Pursuit of Love, featuring “the Bolter” who’s always running off with some new romance.
Ted Turner: Call Me Ted. Fascinating history of this fascinating man.
Barbara Taylor Bradford: A Woman of Substance, – the first in the Emma Harte series which will carry you straight through the summer. If you’ve read them or not, there’s no heroine more inspiring than Emma Harte. Not serious literature but this is the best of its genre.
Elizabeth Von Armin: The Enchanted April – listed in Movies below – so great to read the book that came before the beautiful and inspiring movie.
Dr. Dain Heer: Magic. You are it. Be it. This one will blast away any limiting thoughts you may have about yourself. It’s pure, real, magic. I’ve written a few posts about the incredible healing method called Access Consciousness. This book was written by one of the founders.
Steven Pressfield: The Legend of Bagger Vance – Beautifully written. Great quotes to inspire afterward, VERY original story. If you’re a golfer, you can’t miss this one, and if you’re not, it’s an out of the norm treat. The movie version is listed below.
SPRING MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS: including some old favorites
Owning DVDs (or your format of choice) of your favorite movies means you can pop them in to watch without having to pay another one –time rental fee, or watch a scruffy copy on YouTube. I have all of my favorites. Good used copies on Amazon cost about the same as a one-time online rental. And you can usually find one with free shipping.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (and the sequel – The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) Such an original experience. Perfect casting and how cool to visit India through their eyes. Funny and poignant. The sequel is almost as good, so don’t miss it. Loved being able to hang out with these characters again. Maggie Smith and Judi Dench. Richard Gere shows up in the sequel.
Seabiscuit – The first DVD I ever owned. Do you remember your first? My husband and I re-watch this one every few months. We quote it too. So beautifully done and inspiring. The narrator truly leads you back in time. If you haven’t seen it in awhile it’s lovely to revisit.
Hidalgo – Horses, Viggo Mortensen, adventure…highly recommended. Great story, exciting and suspenseful. If you missed this one, it’s definitely worth seeing.
Enchanted April – Yes, the book above too – This is a total treat. Four women awaken from the constraints of their regular lives to what can be. Such a lovely cast AND beautiful Italy.
Charade – I’ve always felt it was important to be able to answer the question “what’s your favorite movie?”. So, this is mine. Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. Need I say more? Her clothes are divine; he’s at the perfect age (not that silly slap-stick-schtick he did when he was younger). They’re a delight together.
August Rush – have you seen it? LOVE the music and the storyline. The boy who plays August is perfectly cast. Robin William’s role was made for him.
Australia – Did you miss it? Similar in feel to Hidalgo (above), in some ways. A real adventure, a world away down under. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.
The Legend of Bagger Vance – To get you into the 2018 golf season. Not just for golfers, this is one of my greatest inspirations from a movie. I’m always touched by it, and it gives me a fresh perspective. Love Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Matt Damon together. And the boy, AND Jack Lemmon.
